53 species of lizards

Reptiles, and specifically lizards, are the largest group of species to reproduce by parthenogenesis, a method of asexual reproduction in which the division of the eggs of some species occurs on its own and the embryo is created without the need for sperm.

This list contains 7,755 taxonomically catalogued lizards, sorted and classified by family and type of reproduction. Imitating the outdated format of encyclopedias, I seek to convey an image of how scientific discourse is presented, and I have distinguished with a photograph those species that are considered strange and exceptional because of how they reproduce.

And it is from this supposed otherness and exceptionality that the cracks in a system that excludes and limits are also discovered, positioning as different everything that falls outside the normative imaginary. Fifty-three color photographs have been spread throughout the room with the intention of making the featured species more visible in a diverse and dissonant context.
